Displaying Maps of Contacts' Addresses
CardScan allows you to display a map of a contact’s address using several web-based map services.
Displaying a map of a contact’s address
To display a map of a contact’s address, follow these steps: |
 |
- Select the contact whose address map you want, and choose Card -> Display Map of Address. The dialog Select Map Web Service appears.
- Choose the service you want, and click OK. CardScan launches your browser and displays the map using the service you selected. (If the browser is already open, CardScan displays the map within the existing browser window.)
NOTE: Most services require a complete and correct address, with Street, City, State and Zip/Postal code, to display the correct map. If any information is missing, you may be prompted to correct the address or provide more information.
TIP: You can also display maps in the List and Summary views by clicking on the address, or by right-clicking on the contact and choosing Display Map of Address from the context-sensitive menu.
Displaying a map of a contact’s 2nd address
To display a map of a contact's 2nd address, click on the address in the List view or Summary view.
Displaying maps of non-US addresses
Map services use different protocols for addresses in the United States and addresses in the rest of the world. If CardScan detects that the address is outside the United States, it displays a dialog asking whether to search a map of the world, rather than a map of the United States. On this dialog, you can:
- Click Yes, to view a world map or
- Click No, to view the US-only map
- Deselect the option to be asked which map you want to use for a non-US address.
Changing preferences for displaying maps
- Choose Edit -> Preferences. The Preferences dialog appears.
- Click Warnings and Alerts. CardScan displays a list of warnings and alerts you can turn on and off.
- Select or deselect the option to be asked which map to use for non-US addresses.
Selecting a different map service
CardScan remembers to use the map service you choose the first time you display a map. To use a different service:
- Choose Edit -> Preferences. The Preferences dialog appears.
- Select a different service from the "Display maps" drop-down list, and click OK.
