Customize List View
Duplicate contact records waste effort, postage, and time. That’s why we designed the version 8 CardScan® software “Duplicates Wizard” to spot duplicate records automatically – and help you eliminate duplicates quickly.

Take action without leaving List View.
Email any contact, jump to any contact’s Web page, or map any contact’s address right from List View – all without switching to Summary View. |

When contacts in the list are displayed without images, you can display maps with a single click. Move the cursor over any address, phone number, email address or URL. CardScan changes the cursor and highlights the information.
- Click on an email address to launch your email application with a pre-addressed message.
- Click on a phone number to open the CardScan Auto-dialer with the number pre-selected.
- Click on a web address to launch the default browser and visit the site pointed to
- Click on a street address to view a map on MapQuest, Google, or another web mapping service.
- Click on the Categories to open the Assign Categories dialog.
When pointing to these types of information in List or Summary view, CardScan behaves like a web browser: changing the cursor to the "pointing hand" and highlighting/underlining the text.
You can also choose the level of detail at each the contacts are displayed in List View. Use the buttons on the right of the detailed pane to choose the level of detail.
The List tab also contains options for showing card images and sorting the list on the criterion from the drop-down list.

To add or delete fields from the display:
- Choose View -> Customize List. The 'Customize' dialog appears. It lists:
- All fields (All Available Columns)
- Fields currently displayed (Show the following)
- To add a field to List view, select it from Available Columns and click 'Add' - or double-click it.
- To remove a field from List view, select it from Show the following and click 'Remove' - or double-click it.
- If adding several fields, select Automatically resize list columns to fit the window. This ensures that all columns appear in the window. You can resize the columns later (see the tip in step 6).
TIP: Turn off this option if you prefer to scroll through the columns.
- Select Show last names first, if desired.
- Click 'Apply' and move the Customize window aside to preview your changes in the List view.
- If satisfied, click 'OK' to display the saved changes.
TIP: If columns become narrow to fit in the window, resize any column by clicking the border line between two headings and moving it.
When the At Your Service updates are enabled, CardScan communicates the status of updates with these icons:

By default, the status of updates is displayed next to the "Verified" status. You can customize the list to remove the status of updates or to move it to a different location.
You can also sort the contacts by the status of At Your Service updates. CardScan displays the up-to-date contacts first, followed by contacts with available updates, then the contacts whose email addresses are invalid or not in service.

Even display business card images.
Have a better memory for pictures than for words? Display business card images in List View for fast visual identification.
The List tab also contains options for showing card images and sorting the list on the criterion from the drop-down list. |
