First used product about 6 yrs ago when I supported a VP of Business Development, after every trip he'd come back with handful of cards. Important part was the machine also picked up his handwritten notes on the back, only minimal editing was needed.
At my current company, I purchased this product for my team to assist with and keep track of sales leads and recommended to other Admins in the company.
As long as there is business cards, I will purchase/recommend this product wherever I go.
Keep track of all my business cards. Orderly, complete, obsoleted the three (so far) huge 3-ring binders I used to use -- thereby also freeing up a foot of shelf space!
The product is necessary to maintain my address book but I would like a Mac software for home.
It exports into MS Streets & Trips to display where the contacts are located within the various cities.
Great!
I'm disappointed that there isn't more intelligent correlation between the web/e-mail addresses and the company name. That would avoid more of the manual editing. I was also surprised that you can't flick through the cards using the mouse wheel; more akin to a real Rolodex. Sorting surnames in alphabetical order is odd when the first names appear first - makes it trickier to use quickly. I like being able to assign multiple categories to a contact.
While the CardScan product is impressive in its own right, it truly comes into its own if you are a SmartPhone user. Having CardScan sync with you Palm Treo or Blackberry phone allows you to keep your contacts close at hand and be able to look up important information when you need it!
Can be a bit confusing with more than one database being edited. But with the sheer volume of business cards our department accumulates and uses each day, this is the only way to manage them.
Helps keep my bosses contacts in one place.
