Easy and simple to use. The only problems I found was the way the business card was designed. The information from the fancy printed cards don't don't scan as well as the plain cards. No the less the information that is scanned needs only a minor correction. It sure beats manually type in all the information.

The product is a real time saver. I used to pay someone to enter cards into my database and they made more errors than the Cardscan!
The ability to attach a card jpeg to emails and a contact record is very useful.
The on-line back-up is great. I wish I could access the on-line data through my Treo so I can look up unverified records. The one drawback for me.

One of the valuable aspects of Card Scan is the ability of my co-workers and boss to go online and review my most recent contacts and get any contact info they need. Of course, they have to have my user name and password to access that info. But the updates are quick, and instant. I do not sync with Outlook or Goldmine or any other data contact software because the fields do not line up exactly. I use the card scan data manager exclusively and have it set up to sync automatically with the online data base. I can access my contacts anywhere in the world I have a browser. I cut and paste important emails into my contact's notes and write important update notes with each. I have only had two contacts out of 3,000 in three years who were very upset that I use CardScan because it is a large company that has ultimate ability to misuse the contact information if they wanted to or if they had an employee who knew how to gather and collect the data and use if for unauthorized reasons. In today’s world wide data access I can see their concerns.

I use this product to keep my business contacts synchronized and available. Generally, it's a great timesaver and a decent value. I appreciate the online address book and the "at your service" feature. However, the scan-to-text conversion could be improved, especially for non-traditional business cards, and the product doesn't work well with raised lettering or thermally embossed cards - they get stuck and blurred.

Editing required is minimal in most recent version.
But syncing to Outlook is difficult. Keep trying to set it up and have it do the job and it keeps asking me to configure over and over again. This is frustrating. And a shame when everything else is so good.

I am throroughly impressed by CardScan. As a communications consultant managing my contacts database is critical. Not only is it easy to use amd simple to migrate data to my other contacts and vice versa but it also re-organised the way in which I network professionally.
Put simply, I no longer have to manually type the contact details from business cards into Outlook. In one hit I got three enormous piles of business cards off my desk in a matter of hours. I now have a workable and useable database for Christmas Cards and other marketing mail outs etc.
The CardScan update service re-acquainted me with an old contact which has resulted in new business for my consultancy. So not only does the product work, it actually makes you money!!!

Does exactly what it says it will do.....after a little learning on your part of course. I am a very technically savvy person, but the average joe might get frustrated with the software like my father did and give up and leave it to his secretary to figure out. I've other brands software and they seam much more straitforward, however I believe cardscanne has the reputation it does beacuse of the quality of its ocr software. It's truly amazing how accurate it is. Overall, in the long run a huge time saver and a sound investment.

I don't rate it as excellent because I have problems synchronizing between Card Scan and Outlook and ACT; I use both programs.
Currently I have a card that I have in Card Scan and ACT that is about to be deleted because it is not in my Outlook.
This may be a training problem but it is not easily solveable by me.
Card Scan records notes from my ACT program and then synchronizes those notes to Outlook. When I delete the notes from Outlook it ends up deleting the contact in Card Scan and then eventually from all applications.

Bought this simply to scan cards in. As a bonus I discovered the ability to select text on a web page and it will import that data to the proper fields for you! I paid up to $70 in the past for a separate program to do that for me (eGrabber). Great stuff!

Aside from my Laptop, this is one of the most useful tools on my desk! I have been able to eliminate the clutter of endless business cards from my desk, keeping them organized and up to date in both CardScan and Outlook for immediate access and quick follow up. I network heavily and have amassed thousands of business cards. When I saw a colleague using CardScan, I thought it would be a good tool to help in entering my contact info into Outlook and my CRM. What a surprise! The software that came with it turns out to be more useful than Outlook and I now use it as my primary contact list. Now, Outlook is merely a "holding bucket" for synchronizing records with the CRM (which I'd like to see AtYourService become). Keep up the good job guys!

Big timesaver, wouldn't be without it. I was pleasantly surprised at how seamlessly the USB connection works. Not foolproof but still a significant time saver.
Primary annoyance:
The file backup process always defaults to the assumption that you'll use their paid service to back up your files. This is annoying and can't be changed by the user.
Wishful thinking:
I've never found the import/export to be useful for more than a one-time transfer of contacts. It would be nice to have Outlook reference Cardscan for its email address book.

I love Cardscan and have been using it since Version 1. I'm actually the guy who originally recommended the super-sized note field.
My only unhappiness presently is that I used to be able to find any of my three-thousand contacts by typing LASTNAME+FIRST and the name would "pop" before I finished typing the first name. I don't know why the plus sign now needs a space and why it works more slowly than it did with the previous software version. I'm against anything that slows down processes. I love all else.

I was very skeptical about this product's capabilities before I bought it. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. Everything works exactly the way they say it does. Even more than that, the ability to store contact information online as a backup WITHOUT a monthly fee is incredible. I had a stack of hundreds of cards before. Now I can efficiently manage all of my contacts. Everything automatically synchs between my laptop and mobile phone.
Did I mention that their customer service absolutely ROCKS! I have been in the IT business for a long time, and I have never gotten such great service. Most of the time you have to pay extra for the type of service that you get just by purchasing one of these devices. Friendly, knowledgable, and native ENGLISH speaking technical people. How can you beat that?
