COREX LAUNCHES DIRECT SALES PORTAL FOR CARDSCAN BUSINESS CARD SCANNERS

London, 12 February 2004: Corex Technologies has launched a direct sales portal for CardScan, the world's number one business card scanner. The latest CardScan scanners are now available to buy in the UK from www.cardscan.com/eu, for just £179.95 including VAT, cheaper than ever before.

Typing a lot of contact details can be time-consuming as well as inaccurate. Scanning business cards through CardScan makes the process accurate and fast, minimising the possibility of human error that costs businesses time and money. It scans a business card in just a few seconds, interpreting the data on the card into name, company, contact details and any other information. This is then uploaded to a PC from where it can be synchronised to a PC address book (such as Outlook), company database, PIM (personal information manager), PDA (personal digital assistant) or Microsoft® Windows Mobile™-based Smartphones .

CardScan scanners accurately interpret data from 12 countries, even taking into account regional differences between shared languages (eg. Portuguese in Portugal or in Brazil). It has been tested for accuracy in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, the UK and the USA. It reads and interprets information in five languages: English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish, and is available with English, German or French user interfaces and instructions.

CardScan also offers an online address book, www.cardscan.net, which backs up scanned contact information and is accessible (password protected) by registered users. This enables colleagues to share contact information with each other.

Compatibility

CardScan connects to a PC via a USB port and is compatible with more than 30 PDAs and PIMs. Information from CardScan can be easily integrated with existing address books and company databases run on systems including: Microsoft Outlook; Palm; ACT!; GoldMine; and Lotus Notes. It also synchronises easily with all leading handheld devices, including Palm, Handspring, Microsoft® Windows Mobile™-based Smartphones, Sony Clie handhelds and Pocket PCs.

Corex's own research into its user base shows that office workers each spend, on average, 23 hours and 12 minutes - or nearly three full working days - every year typing contact information into address books or PDAs. With 18 million office workers in the UK, Corex estimates that in total the UK loses nearly 57 million working days every year typing contact details.
